New Zealander and Olympic shot putter Valerie Adams recently reminded us on Instagram that track and field events can be dangerous, particularly when you don't time your hammer throw correctly.

Hammer throw is an Olympic sport where the objective is to throw a big heavy thing as far as your intimidatingly muscular arms will allow. Simple enough, right? Apparently not. Adams published this video as a useful reminder of what can happen if you miscalculate your release time when throwing a giant metal ball on a rope.
