NBC may have Comedy Archivescornered the market on Dick Wolf procedurals set in Chicago, but ABC has apparently staked out Seattle for Shonda Rhimes' growing empire.
The network has ordered a new, untitled Grey's Anatomyspinoff set in a Seattle firehouse, probably because the only thing sexier than a doctor is a firefighter. (It probablywon't be called Grey's Firehouse, but we wouldn't mind if it was.)
"From the captain to the newest recruit," ABC's logline says, "we follow these brave men and women as they risk their lives and their hearts both in the line of duty and off the clock."

No word on whether any characters from Grey'swill move over to the spinoff yet, but it's probably a safe bet that the new series will follow a similar pattern to the show's first spinoff, Private Practice, which was introduced via a backdoor pilot during Season 3 of Grey's.
“No one can interweave the jeopardy firefighters face in the line of duty with the drama in their personal lives quite like Shonda, and Grey’ssignature Seattle setting is the perfect backdrop for this exciting spinoff,” said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey.

With Scandalending after Season 7, it's a no-brainer that ABC would want to capitalize on its most popular drama and keep the Shondaland gravy train running -- we can already picture the sizzling TGIT promos featuring "McSmokey."
