Guardians of the Galaxy actors987 Archivesresponded to Disney's decision to fire series director James Gunn on Friday. The firing came after conservative personalities online resurfaced old tweets in which Gunn joked about pedophilia and molestation.
Gunn himself apologized Thursday night in a series of tweets, and again Friday with an official statement after the firing went public.

Gunn's brother Sean, who had a significant role particularly in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, shared no less than 10 tweets on the subject, describing growing up with James and his evolution as an artist and storyteller who was ultimately bettered for working on the Guardians franchise.

Michael Rooker, who played Peter Quill's adoptive alien father Yondu in both movies, also shared a reaction of his own on Twitter. Per James Gunn's statement on Friday:
"My words of nearly a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative. I have regretted them for many years since — not just because they were stupid, not at all funny, wildly insensitive, and certainly not provocative like I had hoped, but also because they don't reflect the person I am today or have been for some time.”
