I'm assuming this is the pitch Topshop heard from a frazzled designer riding low off a fresh rejection from Project Runway. And they bought it! And then Nordstrom sold it! For $95 plus tax!

Don't get me wrong, I love a good plastic element. Designers like Betsey Johnson and Issey Miyake have made showstopping pieces out of the same material in these jeans.

But that was on a runway. I personally feel that selling plastic as wearable fashion is, quite simply, irresponsible.

It's called condensation, people, and no one is safe from the foggy steam that fills up plastic clothes.

Twitter seems to agree: these pants are, in a word, silly. High fashion they are not. Practical they are definitely not. Comfortable? I can't even begin to imagine.

One user aptly pointed out that as ridiculous as Clear Knee Mom Jeans may be, Topshop is a top offender of crimes against denim.

Surely Topshop only wanted to advance denim as a medium-- but once they figured out that they could have Clear Knee Mom Jeans, they never bothered to ask if they shouldhave Clear Knee Mom Jeans.
