If neither of those workarounds is to your liking, you can pick up a pair of Pioneer's new Rayz Plus earbuds, which have a Lightning charging port built right into the cable.

Credit: Mashable The $150 wired earbuds also come with a few other high-tech features, like an in-line remote control; "AutoPause," which automatically pauses your music when you take them out of your ears and resumes when you put them back; "smart noise canceling" that adjusts the noise cancelation based on the ambient noise around you; and a "smart button" that can be programmed to launch any app with just a press.
Pioneer also says the Rayz Plus earbuds uses less power than other Lightning headphones/earbuds.
The company also sells a cheaper $100 version called the Rayz that has all of the Rayz Plus' features minus the pass-through charging port.
