Android phones are Kairaku Jigoku no Toriko (2019)about to get a lot more interesting.
RED's Hydrogen phone, the Android phone that claims to be the first with a fully "holographic display" will be available this summer, according to AT&T and Verizon.
The carriers didn't reveal final availability or pricing, but they did confirm plans to carry the phone by the summer, which hopefully means we should get much more information about an official launch soon.
Created by RED, a company that makes high-end digital cinema cameras used by the likes of James Cameron and Michael Bay, the Hydrogen phone has been the subject of a lot of hype over the past year, despite having relatively few details about the device.
RED has claimed the Hydrogen phone will be the first handset to have a holographic display that can switch between 2D and 3D content without the need for glasses. It's also purported to have high-quality audio and an ultra-fancy camera (as well as the ability to connect to RED's high-end cinema cameras).
AT&T and Verizon also revealed the phone will launch with something called the "Hydrogen network," a content platform for video created with the phone's "4-View" camera.
And while we don't know final pricing yet, we do know the phone won't come cheap. RED started taking pre-rders earlier this year, with two models priced at $1,295 and $1,595. That's more than an iPhone X, so RED is clearly shooting for the moon here, but it could come crashing down to earth if the hardware doesn't live up to its now-massive expectations.
