The outfits were found in the loft after their granddaughter Hayley asked to see wedding photos -- from the couple's wedding day on Oct. 1, 1966.
"When Hayley discovered we still had our wedding outfits, she said we should try them on to see if they still fit," Mrs Stanfield told The Telegraph.
"Jim went up and dug them out. Hayley insisted we put them on but I said no, they’d been in the loft and they were dusty and smelly," the 71-year-old continued.
Jim, 74, and Carole-Ann met in 1962 at a working men's club and they've been together ever since.
Carole-Ann and Jim decided to don their outfits and host a party for all their friends and family in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary.
