Every year on Jan. 1 Outback Steakhouse sponsors the Outback Bowl, a big college football game that also features a bizarre fried mascot: a Bloomin' Onion, just like the one you can find on the steakhouse's menu.

To underline this, his Twitter bio reads, “My only professional goal for 2017: to serve as the Blooming Onion at the next Outback Bowl.”
Ryan Nanni wasn’t kidding, earlier this year on Jan. 3 he tweeted the Outback Bowl account asking how to get the mascot job. And then he just kept doing it.
