"Orangutans are incredibly intelligent, so we are always looking for new ways to interact with them and make their day interesting, challenging and fun," Pij said.
"Kluet loves playing Garage Band on my phone, and it’s pretty clear he has some real musical talent," he added. "When I first heard the song, I knew he had created something pretty special."
The single is being sold on Adelaide Zoo's website, where customers can pay what they like a la Radiohead's In Rainbows. The proceeds will go towardsenrichment, medical and husbandry items for the three orangutans that are at the zoo.
It will also help raise awareness of the plight of the Sumatran orangutan, with only an estimated 7,000 still left in the wild and fears that its numbers will decline by as many as 1,000 each year.
So go on, challenge your ears for a good cause.
