Corey Cogdell won bronze (her second Olympic medal) in women’s trap shooting this past week,Lina Romay and while reporting on her triumph in the Rio Olympics, the Chicago Tribune had questionable coverage.
"Wife of a Bears' lineman wins a bronze medal today in Rio Olympics," the newspaper's tweet read, putting her martial status and husband's job before her own athletic accomplishments.

While the article's headline itself mentioned the athlete by name, “Corey Cogdell, wife of Bears lineman Mitch Unrein, wins bronze in Rio," still had folks upset. The focus on Cogdell's husband drove Twitter users to call out the paper for being sexist.

"On Sunday, in an initial tweet and headline, we identified three-time U.S. Olympian Corey Cogdell-Unrein only as the 'wife of a Bears lineman,'" they wrote. "She's awesome on her own. We focused too hard on trying to emphasize the local connection Cogdell-Unrein has to Chicago."
This unfortunately isn't the first time a news outlet has been criticized for it's reporting on female athletes during the 2016 Olympics.
NBC came under fire for their coverage of Hungarian swimmer Katinka Hosszu when an announcer described the gold medalist's husband as the man responsible for her success.
