The robert c morgan the politics of eroticismToronto Raptors aren't just currently leading the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, they're also failing basic Bay Area geography on Twitter much like ABC has in the past.
Or they may be rubbing salt in the wounds of Oakland-based fans of the Golden State Warriors in a vicious troll job.
On Tuesday night, before tipoff of Game 3 (which Toronto won), Twitter's official Canada account shared the following tweet which showed raptors crossing the Bay Bridge that connects Oakland San Francisco.

Except the raptors are heading in the wrong direction.
Yes, the raptors in the above picture are heading away from Oakland, where the Warriors still play, and toward San Francisco. The giveaway is that little land mass on the very left side of the photo, Yerba Buena Island, which sits at roughly the halfway point between Oakland and SF.

Twitter users weren't amused.

But Twitter Canada wasn't alone. The official Toronto Raptors account tweeted this image of the team having "crossed a bridge" to take on the Warriors.

First of all, that is not the Bay Bridge. That is clearly the famous Golden Gate Bridge which one crosses to go between San Francisco and the North Bay (i.e., on the way to Wine Country), not Oakland to play the Warriors.
Again, Bay Area Twitter had some words.

But here's the thing: what if this was all on purpose? In each case, the raptors (or Raptors) are heading to San Francisco.
You know who else is heading to San Francisco at the conclusion of this NBA Finals?
The Warriors.
Yes, San Francisco has managed to snatch back the Warriors away from Oakland, where the team has played for nearly 40 years, with a brand spanking new stadium which will be filled to the brim with rich tech bros starting next season and leaving Oakland's Oracle Arena empty.
Bay Area sportswriter Ray Ratto recently wrote an excellent piece on the move for Deadspin as did Michael Weinreb over at The Ringer. And the San Francisco Chroniclehas an outstanding history of the team's time in Oakland.
Point is: this may not be bad Twittering at all. It may be an absolutely epic troll job of the Warriors' Oakland fans in the midst of a heated Finals that's featured a feud between some Warriors players and Raptors super-fan Drake.
And if that's the case? Damn.
Absolutely savage.
